I bought 3 robot vacuum cleaners, but did not choose the one with automatic dusting feature. How about you?
Hello friends! Currently, buying a robot vacuum cleaner is no longer something too far away. There are countless brands and models on the market - enough to make us dizzy when choosing.
In this article, I will share my experience, and at the same time would like to hear your comments about the robot vacuum cleaner with automatic dusting feature.
What is automatic dusting?
Normally, after each cleaning of the house, garbage and dirt will be in a box inside the robot (called a dust box).
With the robot with automatic dusting feature, there are 2 holes under the robot's belly and on the dust container inside the robot - corresponding to 2 holes on the charging dock. When the robot returns to the charging dock, these holes match and the garbage will be sucked out of the dust container into the garbage bag located in the charging dock.
Advantages
+ The first "earning money" point that everyone can easily see – that is saving time and effort. Instead of having to remove the dust container every few days, now it takes weeks or even months for us to empty the trash.
+ The second advantage is to prevent dust from flying out every time the garbage bag is dumped.
According to the recommendations of the manufacturers, the specialized garbage bags used for the garbage tower can be reused several times before having to be thrown away. If you choose to reuse, you have to empty out all the trash and dust in the bag, and then the amount of dust coming out will not be less.
So, in my opinion, this is only really considered an advantage if you completely throw away the garbage bag, not reuse it.
+ Because the dust is always dumped after each charge, the dust container is almost always empty, from which the dust collection capacity is maintained at a high level.
Defect
-The price of a robot vacuum cleaner with automatic dusting will be higher than that of another product with similar specifications.
- If the price is the same, the robot vacuum cleaner with automatic dusting feature will have to sacrifice some points compared to other robot vacuum cleaners, for example, the cleaning ability is worse, the capacity of the water tank is smaller...
- The structure is more complicated due to the addition of a separate dust collection tower.
- Higher cost of use due to the purchase of separate dust bags.
The dust tower will become a reservoir for bacteria and dust when it is not cleaned regularly for a long time. If the dust container contains compostable organic waste, it is likely to smell.
Sharing from reality using a "regular" robot vacuum cleaner:
Currently, I am "managing" 3 robot vacuums: a Roborock S6 MaxV at my house, another S6 MaxV at my wife's parents' house and an S7 at my parents' house. All 3 of these robot vacuum cleaners do not have an automatic dusting feature.
I have a habit of cleaning the robot vacuum cleaner every 1-2 times to run the whole house. When the robot has completed the cleaning process and returns to self-charging, I will remove the dust box, main brush, water tank and mop to clean, and also clean the sensors, remove tangled hair on the edge brush. Although it takes a little time (about 5-7 minutes each time) but this has the following advantages:
+ Check if there are any foreign objects stuck on the wheels, suction brushes or side brushes of the robot to remove them in time.
+ The dust container is always cleaned.
+ The mop is always washed and dried after each robot operation, so it can avoid mold or water from the damp rag permeating the floor. Although all 3 robot models use a water pump to prevent water from leaking freely, those who use wooden floors still need to pay attention.
+ The water tank, if not used up, will also be discarded and dried, avoiding moss growth.
Even if you don't like, or don't have the habit of cleaning robot vacuums as often as I do, there are still things that must be done periodically: washing rags, filling water, cleaning sensors, checking parts Move in case of foreign body.
There is a saying: "sustainable property is in people", if we do not do well in maintaining and cleaning the robot vacuum cleaner, its life will not be high, and the ability to clean the house will also decrease.
Therefore, in my opinion, the self-emptying feature is not necessary, if not a bit redundant because of the disadvantages I mentioned above.
