Redmi 10 launched: Helio G88, 90Hz screen, 50MP camera, priced from 170$

Redmi 10 is the world's first phone equipped with MediaTek's Helio G88 processor.

Today (August 18), Xiaomi has just introduced a new low-cost smartphone model in Malaysia, called Redmi 10. This is considered an upgraded version of the Redmi 9 launched last year, and also is the first phone model in the series equipped with a high refresh rate screen up to 90Hz.

In terms of design, Redmi 10 has a plastic back and frame, comes with a rather large rear camera cluster and is inspired by Mi 10 Ultra. On the front, the device comes with a punch-hole screen with a "mole" located in the middle, instead of the "waterdrop" design like its predecessor.

Redmi 10 owns a 6.5-inch LCD screen, Full HD + resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels) and 90Hz refresh rate with the ability to automatically adjust depending on the displayed content. This is also the first smartphone to be equipped with MediaTek's new Helio G88 processor - a refined version of the Helio G85, which supports higher refresh rates at Full HD + resolution.

Moving to the back, Redmi 10 carries a cluster of 4 cameras with many improvements, including a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor. In addition, the device also has an 8MP camera on the front for selfies and video calls.

Redmi 10 comes with a 5000mAh battery, which supports 18W fast charging and 9W wired reverse charging through the USB-C port. Despite being a cheap device, this phone still comes with a 22.5W charger inside the box.

Other features present on Redmi 10 include side-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual speakers, infrared sensor, dual SIM support, 4G, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and 3.5mm headphone jack . The device is pre-installed with Android 11 operating system with MIUI 12.5 interface when sold.

As expected, Redmi 10 will officially go on sale in Malaysia from August 20 with a starting price of MYR 649 (about 170$) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM version. Meanwhile, the more advanced version with 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM costs MYR 749 (~ 200$). The product is sold with 3 color options: Gray, White and Blue.
